The increase in revenue was largely due to strong commercial aircraft deliveries, which grew by 51.5 percent to 297 aircraft.

PARIS, July 29 (Xinhua) -- European aviation group Airbus on Thursday reported a 30-percent increase in its revenue for the first half of this year thanks to better-than-expected deliveries of commercial aircraft.

From January to June, Airbus generated 24.6 billion euros (29.2 billion U.S. dollars) revenue, against 18.9 billion euros reported same period last year. Its operating income totalled 2.7 billion euros, erasing a 945 million-euro-loss in 2020.

The increase was largely due to strong commercial aircraft deliveries, which increased by 51.5 percent to 297 aircraft. Revenues generated by commercial aircraft activities increased 42 percent to 17.81 billion euros.

Those of Airbus Helicopters were up by 11 percent, "reflecting growth in services and higher volume in civil helicopters," said the group in its half-year report.

As to Airbus Defence and Space, revenues were almost unchanged compared to a year earlier, with two A400M military airlifters delivered over the period.

"Although the COVID-19 pandemic continues, the numerous actions taken have delivered a strong first half performance," said Guillaume Faury, Airbus Chief Executive Officer.

"This enables us to raise our 2021 guidance although we continue to face an unpredictable environment," he added.

Airbus said it expected to ship 600 aircraft this year, up from the previous target of 566. (1 euro = 1.187 U.S. dollars)
